EARTH CREATION STORIES

For Schools / Libraries / Museums/ Festivals

Ask many people today 'What is the Amazon?' and they are quite likely to answer, 'the world's largest online shopping platform'.

The Yanomami Indians of the Amazon rainforest feature on the front cover of my best-selling book 'Stories That Crafted The Earth'.  This book explores stories of earth creation from cultures all around the world - how the earth, the rivers, the lakes, the oceans, the mountains, the valleys, the clouds, the sky, and the first animals and people came into being. The earth creation stories of tribal peoples, many of them re-told here for the first time, share common ground when illustrating humanity's fragile position as a tiny cog in an enormous life macrocosm.

Cultures explored include Aboriginal Australian Dreamtime, Amazon Indian (Yanomami); Ancient Britain, Balinese, Celtic, Blackfoot Native American, Hopi Native American, Kwakiutl Native Canadian, Norse Viking, Tibetan.

A typical full Stories That Crafted The Earth day will include:

  • Inter-active Storytelling
  • Explore at least one Cultural Artform
  • Habitat Survival
  • Culture Quiz

I am the proud owner of the only Blackfoot Native American Storytelling Medicine Lodge in the UK. Yes, it is available for hire, so please enquire! We have travelled to over 1,000 UK schools together (what a feat!) and 100s of festivals, where I built it as an truly atmospheric stage for the storytelling. A photo of my tipi was for over 10 years the profile image for the official Glastonbury festival Facebook page.
